A Readiness Tip for Parents

Here is a fun way to help your child learn the alphabet and enjoy a tasty treat too!

Pour about one cup of "Alpha-Bits"cereal for your child and then do the following activities with him/her:

  • Sort the cereal by letters

  • Say each letter name and it's sound

  • Have your child build his/her name using the cereal letters

  • Count to find out which letter you had the most of

  • Count to find out which letter you had the least of

  • Choose a letter and challenge your child to name things that begin with that letter

  • Feel the letters blind folded and see if you can guess which letter it is

  • Put the letters in alphabetical order and then touch each letter as you sing the alphabet song

"The 'Let 's Get Ready for Kindergarten!' booklet is full of activities, ideas and resources for parents and caregivers to confidently prepare their child for their first day of Kindergarten."
